The Global Investment Solutions team is responsible for the management of multi-asset portfolios and is a solution provider for institutional and private clients.

To strengthen their presence in Japan, the firm is looking for an Asset Allocation Strategist for Global Investment Solutions who will represent the firm and communicate their multi-asset capability to current and prospective clients in Japan. The role will also involve providing investment advisory solutions to the firm’s largest and most sophisticated clients, management and maintenance of locally managed balanced portfolios, reporting and communication of GIS all strategies, and providing research and analysis of Japanese/Asian financial markets to support their global investment process.

Responsibilities include:
1) Portfolio management and implementation (25%)
- Portfolio Coordination: daily maintenance of locally managed balanced portfolio - implementation of strategy changes & rebalancing of positions and issuance of associated orders tickets/instructions
- Monitoring of portfolios

2) Reporting and communication (25%)
- Reporting/communicating investment strategies, performance and outlook to client-facing colleagues internally, clients and prospect (written/verbal)

3) Research and Analysis (10%)
- Support investment decision making by 1) maintenance and development of valuation models, 2) quantitative and qualitative research to capture market behaviour, and 3) development of model strategies for Tokyo-managed balanced portfolios
- Conduct research and prepare reports for client education on various investment-related topics

4) Representing GIS versus clients and prospects (40%)
- Communication of the asset allocation, currency, manager selection and risk capital allocation investment process and philosophy
- Communication of our investment strategy for various multi-asset products to internal and external clients
- Proactive and direct involvement in the solution-related and consultative aspects of new business development
- Developing products in collaboration with our dedicated client relationship management and product development professionals globally

- Native or native-level fluency in Japanese; business-level English
- Degree in Finance or Economics
- CFA desired
- Strong understanding of fundamental macroeconomics concepts and/or market/stock valuations
- Strong knowledge of asset allocation, good understanding of major asset classes and currency markets
- 5+ years of experience in asset management industry (banking, research, asset management, etc.)
- Good understanding in macroeconomic and financial market analysis
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel
- Familiarity with financial and economic databases (eg. Datastream, Bloomberg)
- Strong communication, analytical skills and consultative solution development
- Flexible and self-started, ability to manage portfolios with limited guidance based on instructions
