DUTY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The IM will work closely with the Head of Multi-Asset Solutions for Asia Pacific and the Multi Asset & Solutions team in APAC, in delivering value and insights to our active strategies in multi asset portfolios with a focus on Japanese markets and how it translates into strategies and performance delivery. This involves performing top down fundamental analysis across a wide array of asset classes and instruments in Japan which may include equities, bonds, currencies, real estate, commodities and derivatives.

Other work tasks centre on performing portfolio implementation for Japan domiciled funds, top down research, pulling content materials together for investment and client/prospecting meetings. The individual will be required to work with global teams in TAA, Economic Research and Portfolio Construction where needed in addition to regional teams.

Specific responsibilities include:
Portfolio monitoring and trade implementation activities for instance : ensuring portfolios are in compliance with local laws and regulations including portfolios or trading functions outsourced to overseas offices, represent the team in dividend policy meetings, preparation of data and commentary for local funds and related reports, communication with sub-investment managers as part of the implementation and trading process, portfolio cash management, understand all portfolio holdings in depth, provide detailed monitoring of current portfolio holdings and provide on-going research for both current and prospective investments; maintain and update database of written investment notes.
Contributing views on Japan’s macroeconomics development and asset class thoughts in qualitative discussions and idea generation around Japan strategies as part of the regional and TAA investment teams
Work with global teams to capture, maintain and analyze data on portfolio strategies and markets relating to portfolio risk exposure analyses, portfolio construction and performance attribution, e.g. maintain and refine portfolio performance reporting and attribution analytics to support ongoing “look through” analysis of underlying fund holdings
Analyze and supply market and portfolio analytics for investment and client meetings as well as for prospecting and servicing materials.
Support development of new products and research in Japan that leverages the Solutions platform towards capture new assets under management. Work with Product Management to monitor competitive universe, holdings and portfolio positioning as well as broader industry and product trends
Support and participate in client events such as road show and client & prospecting meetings
Back up to the multi asset team members in Singapore in terms of portfolio monitoring and implementation of portfolio trades if needed.

Around 7-10 years of total work experience preferably in asset management firms. Preference for some experience with a global asset management in addition to local outfit. Experience in Japanese cross markets and multi-asset investing is critical.

Candidates should also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. CFA/CMA qualifications would be an advantage.

Candidates should be highly motivated and able to efficiently analyze information and communicate strategies in a clear/and concise manner. Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline driven environment is required.
