●Role Description:

・Having ability to research and draft on key thematic issues which will be of interest to our internal and external clients and also to help shape policy debate that will ensure the Bank provides input and has an influence on key global topics
・Conducting data analysis and macroeconomic/financial modelling
・Support senior economist and strategist in preparing presentations for the group’s key thematic calls to top clients
・Respond to internal stakeholders on topical issues and preparation of briefing notes and commentary to cover key themes
・ Contribute to drafting and authoring of the team’s key publications
・ Translating quantitative financial conclusions into written form, charts and graphs that can be included in research reports and distributed to clients of the firm
・ Flexible in switching between periods of heavy financial modelling and assignments that involve more qualitative writing and presentation skills

・Experience in quantitative research and modeling
・Experience in derivative trading/structuring
・Strong programming skill
・Strong grasp of fundamental macroeconomic themes and financial market drivers
・Knowledge of policy making and impact of macro variables thereon
・Knowledge in machine learning and practical experience with its tools and applications
・Strong interpersonal and communication skills
・Self-motivated and proactive, and able to use your own initiative
・Creative thinker who is driven and self-motivated
・Enthusiasm and a good work ethic
・Ability to interact with senior stakeholders and external policy makers

●Education/Qualifications:
・Postgraduate (Masters or PhD) in quantitative or technical field highly regarded: ・Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering will be highly regarded
・Programming skills: such as Python, R (or Matlab/Octave), C++, q/KDB experience highly regarded (or equivalent OO programming language such as C# or Java)
・Very strong communication skills in English and Japanese
