<Mission/purpose of the Job>
Our organization has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Manager. The purpose of this position is crucial to ensure a safe, secure environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors in a way that promotes One company. The team performs various our activities and Safety to assist in maintaining a safe environment, which includes loss prevention, emergency preparedness and response, fire safety, risk management, and other safety matters.
<Key responsibilities/Accountabilities>
●Management:
Represent the Safety Group and Health and Safety Department to our Sales Offices and Customer Support Centers employees, guests and third parties.
Provide safety leadership and direction to relevant Business Units, Departments, and Project Managers.
Manage all Customer Support Centers safety programs and processes
Develop and maintain compliance programs to meet and anticipate governmental and local requirements
Build and maintain strong relationships with outside regulatory agencies and external stakeholder groups
Manage Japan Sales Offices’ and Customer Support Centers’ safety staff. When necessary plan, request, and assist in the hiring of new personnel.
Work within the corporate framework to foster the career growth of direct reports.
Manage safety resources and related departmental budgets.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with our Corporate Safety Managers, Business Unit Safety Managers, Corporate Division Managers, local representatives and subcontractors.
Review contractor safety programs; ensure that contractor programs are compliant with corporate and local safety regulations.
Prepare and respond successfully to all internal and external audits and investigations
Safety programs include, but are not limited to: Confined Space Entry, Fall or Slip Protection, Ergonomics, Personal Protective Equipment, Handling of Organic Solvents or Paints, Powered Lift Truck Safety, and all associated and required training
Coordinate and/or conduct required employee safety training
Maintain and utilize industrial hygiene monitoring and personal protective equipment (PPE)
Respond to emergencies and incidents involving employees
Recommend and monitor necessary corrective actions
Notify applicable governmental regulatory agencies and authorities as appropriate
Reviews all contract documents related to ongoing or proposed work for safety related issues.
Work as the internal incident manager, ensuring that safety emergencies and injuries are properly managed.
Oversee, manage and ensure safety orientation for all new our company and client personnel as applicable.

<Educational and/or training qualifications and certificates>
University Degree
Minimum 5 years safety related experience with 3+ years’ operating at manager level, managing safety programs in manufacturing or car maintenance environment.
Japan Safety Officer Certification or willingness to obtain.
Health officer’s license on industrial hygiene, or Dai-1-shu Japan health officer’s license or willingness to obtain.
<Experience and knowledge>
Automotive maintenance and repair knowledge or experiences are preferred, but not required
Knowledge of hazardous material / dangerous goods regulations.
Knowledge of Japanese safety regulations.
Knowledge of behavioral-based safety principles and practices.
Knowledge of accident prevention and safety equipment.
Knowledge of health and safety Risk Management loss prevention methods.
Must be able to work as part of a team, as well independently, identify issues, make decisions, assist management, and resolve problems.
Self-starter, aggressive work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Safety conscious.
<Technical/functional/language skills>
Fluent in Japanese (required to cope with Japanese laws and regulations)
English (Daily Conversation Level)
