【Job description】
+ A dynamic opportunity exists for an experienced Finance compensation controller to oversee the firm’s personnel expense (PE) management, budgeting and control, and business segment performance reporting on a regional basis.
+ Working closely with the HR Compensation and Benefits team, the role will be based in the firm’s Global headquarter in Tokyo and requires significant interaction with Finance peers and business management across the region.
【Responsibilities】
- Manage the Personnel Expense (PE) Budget Planning process, coordinating with Divisional Business Heads in identifying their hiring/staffing plans for the Fiscal Year.
- Manage integrity of regional financial ledger on compensation and benefit expenses, including:
--- Review of monthly payroll bookings
--- Ensuring proper accounting of all PE-related payments/accruals
--- Ownership of expense line definitions (Chart of Accounts) and policies
--- Working closely with Financial and Management Accounting on periodic financial reporting
- Manage US GAAP compensation accruals for stock awards, bonus deferrals, buy outs and other recruiting incentives
- Provide data to Treasury to make decisions on FX hedging, incorporating assumptions on bonus levels with deferral and stock policies on local currency delivered fixed and variable compensation scheme
- Oversee the periodic compensation reviews including but not limited to the following:
--- Reconciliation of HR run rate data to financial reporting
--- Monitoring and analyzing YTD actual PE expenses against the budget
--- Review of monthly results to determine bonus funding requirements
--- Compensation forecasting for YTD planning and budget updates
--- Recommend benchmarks for measuring divisional PE control and management
- Prepare monthly commentary on compensation expenses for ledger reporting
- Partner with HR Compensation and Benefits Team on (but not limited to) the following:
--- Analysis of new compensation schemes
--- Calculation of the financial impact from New Hiring Initiatives and/or Headcount Reduction Plans
--- Determination of Bonus pools for year-end planning
- Compensation tracking and forecasting, based on data provided by HR:
--- Regular reporting of annualized estimates for salary and bonus to help manage the cost base
--- Payroll balance sheet reconciliations
- Establish global contact points between HR and Finance for consistent personnel expense (PE) data management and reporting
- Provide input into global accounting policies around PE, particularly the bonus accrual methodologies:
--- Reflect internal Management Reporting requirements and external legal vehicle and segment level reporting
- Establish and maintain reporting currencies in conjunction with HR

必要スキル
【Requirements】
- Native Japanese language skills
- Fluency in English
- Qualified Accountant (preferable)
- Prior Product Control experience
- Knowledge of accounting principles and their practical application in financial markets
- An understanding of control & operational risks inherent in an Investment Banking environment
- Results focused within a pressurized environment with tight deadlines
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to initiate and drive change
- Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
