Singapore based investment manager is seeking an Investment Analyst to join its team that manages investor capital in mainly Japanese public equities through activism/ engagement strategy.
You will serve to support the team on the investment strategy: assisting with research on investments, analysis of businesses of portfolio companies, engagement campaigns, firm marketing, and contributing to the overall enhancement of the team.

●Responsibilities:
Scope of work include but not limited to company visits/ meetings, presentations/ letters to portfolio companies, firm marketing, investor reporting, industry research, financial analysis and valuation
This will include intense financial analysis, deep-dive industry research and analysis/ development of outside-in strategic plans to improve company’s firm values
You will also support development and execution of engagement campaigns
You will be required to review Japanese language primary information such as company reports and filings, newspaper articles and reports.
The engagement activities and investor communication side of the role involves a healthy amount of writing, and the ideal candidate should possess excellent writing skills both in Japanese and English.
You may be requested to travel on short notice and work off-site several times a year

●The ideal candidate:
Candidates will be expected to have a good working understanding of public equity markets and fundamental company valuation. This includes the ability to value a company using a variety of methods, convey the investment thesis to other members of the team and strategise ways to work with company management to improve the value of an investment
We are looking for a candidate who has gained 3-5+ years’ work experience, ideally from an investment bank or a consultancy firm. A background gained in a corporate advisory role covering M&A and corporate finance or a consulting role covering business due diligence, strategy planning and operational improvement consulting is desirable
The candidate should have good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team with high level of responsibility and sense of accountability
Given our main investment area is Japanese equities with engagement strategy, itis important that the candidate has interest in improving Japanese companies
