Engineer within the Group Platform Services & Engineering division which provides our group common services to Development, Infrastructure and Production Services. This is a technical position responsible for engineering, design, development and integration of the monitoring & observability platform. The successful candidate will have a vital role in shaping future monitoring strategy and direction within the Group.

A fantastic opportunity for somebody with 3+ years IT experience to learn and work with state-of-the-art technologies to deliver industry leading solutions in the Telemetry, Observability and Monitoring space. The successful candidate would join a team of enthusiastic forward-thinking Engineers who are working to radically transform how the Group manages the operation of its estate. The position is within a global team consisting of 20 team members bringing change across the organisation. The candidate will work closely with their peers in other regions as well as other development teams to facilitate the strategic objectives of the team.

The monitoring platform consists of a combination of platforms and frameworks from vendors, open source and in house. This includes Grafana UI, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, Sloth, RightITNow, EverBridge, Open Telemetry, Spring Cloud Gateway and Spring Boot.

Responsibilities：
- Design and develop next-generation observability features using modern technologies like Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and cloud-native tools in an agile environment on Linux and Windows platforms
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design through testing and deployment
- Collaborate in an agile team environment using modern development practices, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable monitoring solutions that support Our company’s global infrastructure
- Contribute to architectural decisions that influence the future direction of Our company’s observability platform
- Contribute to technical initiatives to transform Our company’s monitoring capabilities, working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions
- Champion observability best practices across the organization, helping teams leverage data-driven insights to improve system reliability and performance
- Partner with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to optimize operational efficiency and enhance system resilience
- Mentor and guide other engineers, sharing your expertise in monitoring, observability patterns, and software engineering best practices

＜Mandatory＞
- Fluency in English and Business level Japanese with written & verbal communication skills
- Competent working in a Linux environment
- Java 8+, and Python Experience (3+ years)
- Agile development experience
- Strong communication − presenting and documentation
- Strong analytical skills

＜Preffered＞
- Experience of PowerShell scripting
- Experience of continuous Integration / Deployment tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI
- Experience with monitoring & observability tools
- Understanding of Production Support processes within a large enterprise
