Position Summary

We are seeking a bilingual Data Engineer (more than 5 experience) fluent in Japanese and English to join our Data & Analytics Division (equivalent to a Chief Data Officer Office). The successful candidate will play a key role in facilitating the migration of data from our legacy AS400 System to the New Policy Administration System and Master Data Management platform on Azure cloud. Strong organizational skills and self-motivation are essential for this position.

This role is hands-on and cross-functional, requiring effective communication, collaboration, a passion for developing ETL pipelines in data warehouses, commitment to improving data quality and consistency, and knowledge to understand data models.



Key Responsibilities

Be able to analyze and understand existing data pipelines built on Informatica ETL

Be able to understand the source/target system data model and determine the data mapping strategy.

Be able to design, architect efficient data pipelines (extract , transform and load) for enterprise data platform on MS Azure and Databricks

Be able to guide and support ETL developers with best practice, efficient ETL framework for data migration. Particularly automated validation, detailed audit trail of ETL jobs with easy-to-understand summary, reconciliation scripts etc.

Knowledge of understanding Enterprise data model, domain driven design, Data Vault and Star Dimensional model will be a big plus.

Collaborate with stakeholders on business side to understand more about data and business logic.

Play a key role in migrating data from legacy system to the New Policy Admin System (SaaS).

Good / Organized knowledge management (documentation) of one’s own work is an important skill.

Required Qualifications

More than 5 years of experience in developing data pipelines. Experience with large-scale data migration from legacy systems to cloud-based platforms will be of prime importance.

Understanding data models and data modeling techniques (Enterprise data model, Data Vault, Star Schema).

Proficiency in SQL and Python for data extraction, cleansing, profiling, transformation and ingestion

Experience working in regulated industries (insurance or financial services) is highly desirable.

Effective communication skills (read and write) in both Japanese and English.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.

Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and cloud platforms, especially Azure and Databricks.

Experience in the insurance or financial services industry.

Knowledge of Japanese data privacy and security regulations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 for collaboration and documentation.
