Our Front Office risk team monitors and communicates the risk taking of our trading desks to trading management. In addition it is involved in a number of different functions and projects like trader stop-loss monitoring, intraday risk as well as regulatory related projects like FRTB, IBOR transition etc. The overall FO risk team is fairly small, with currently 2 people in Japan and 19 people outside of Japan (across AEJ, EMEA, US, India).
●Responsibilities: Understand the risk taking of Our Global Markets trading desks and be able to communicate it to senior trading management. Monitor Stop/Loss breaches for traders on Japan side and ensure transparency and escalation of any breaches. Follow the overall market and do market summaries for weekly risk call. Maintain and develop daily risk reports (in Python) to monitor trading positions and risk trends, both for Japan and Global risk taking. It is a generalist role and requires the ability to multitask, while at the same time have the ability to be very technical and detailed when necessary.
The management of Market risk is a key business priority for us and is vital to the successful delivery of the firm’s strategy. The Japan Market risk team has responsibility for the development of Market risk management for the region as well as risk oversight on whole our group:
・Developing the Market risk strategy and governance framework in line with the Global Market risk management and regulatory framework ・Establishing a set of Market risk services to support the business areas’ management of Market risk ・Developing the tools and templates to allow the effective collection, review and use of Market risk information ・Through a team of Market Risk Managers, effectively working with different stakeholders across the business to embed a Market risk culture throughout the organization ・Working closely with regional risk managers to ensure proper risk governance at our group level. ・Supporting the Senior Management as well as Senior Risk Managers in the performance of their responsibilities
●Responsibilities： Market Risk Management is looking to hire a Market Risk Analyst/Associate to work as a part of a team covering our Onshore China JV based in Tokyo. The risk analyst will also be responsible for overseeing day to day market risk management governance processes as well as maintaining market risk oversight at our group level.
- To monitor market activity, review positions taken at China JV and to communicate to senior risk managers and management: ・Daily review of key market news and movement ・Daily review of positions taken and changes to the positions ・Produce daily risk report and perform daily sign off for VaR. ・Stress Test Review and commentary of key drivers ・Review new products, and capture new type of risks into VaR and Stress testing
- Work closely with business and risk managers at China JV to understand trading strategies and key risk positioning - Work closely and manage relationships with groups outside of Market Risk, such as with Front Office, Finance, Middle Office, IT, and Internal Audit.
The primary focus will be the Financing Businesses conducted in Japan and the wider APAC region, whilst active involvement is expected in global financing risk related projects. The role offers opportunity to be involved in risk management of wide range of assets and businesses (eg Securities Financing Transactions, Prime Services - inclusive of Futures and Options, Structured Credit, and Over the Counter products), with primary responsibility for Japan based trading businesses and secondary coverage of APAC region’s business. Reporting line will be to both Japan market risk team and APAC financing risk team leads.
Specifically, the responsibilities include: ・Working with Front Office businesses & Credit Risk to analyse risk and concentrations in client portfolios, help define risk appetite and to set risk limits where applicable; ・Monitoring financing business client portfolios vs. key metrics and taking resolution action and escalating when risk is outside established appetite; ・Client pre-trade risk analysis of financing and OTC trades to support approval decisions; ・Quantitative counterparty risk exposure analysis for financing & derivatives trading, including use and development of appropriate risk and margin methodologies/rules where relevant; ・Present views of contingent risk to Credit Risk, Front Office and in various management forums ・Aid development of globally consistent analytics & reporting standards; ・Subject Matter expertise in other relevant regulatory rules such as the Leverage Ratio, LCR, and NSFR.
●Key objectives critical to success: ・Form an understanding of existing our risk policies, methodologies and systems; give input on potential improvements and business development; ・Build a network of contacts across risk management, Global Markets and support functions; ・Demonstrate flexibility to operate across separate business lines within the Financing Risk space ・Proactive, problem solving
Primary responsibility is to conduct model validation, including model risk analysis, of all internal Risk Models developed in the Group. As a part of the global responsibilities, independent model validations of in-house Risk Models used for assessing the stability or business continuity of the Group from the view point of capital planning and capital adequacy, liquidity adequacy, recovery and resolution planning, appropriateness of Risk Appetite and routine risk management.
