【About the Role】
As our company expands, we are seeking a Manager / Associate, Community Development & Strategic Partnerships to strengthen our network across founders, investors, universities, corporations, government entities, and strategic partners in Japan and APAC. This cross-functional role combines relationship building, community engagement, event execution, and AI-driven projects. Working with AVJ leadership, global teams, and external partners, you will expand AVJ’s presence and support cross-border initiatives connecting Japan, the US, and APAC. This role offers broad exposure to venture investing and ecosystem development, with room for growth based on performance.


【What You’ll Do】

Community Development & Engagement
Design and execute community initiatives and AV events in Tokyo and regionally (flagship summits, investor networking, LP briefings, pitch competitions).
Own the full event lifecycle: venue sourcing, vendors, logistics, budgets, communications, on-site execution, and post-event reporting.
Represent our company at industry events, university programs, and ecosystem gatherings across Japan and APAC.
Partner with US marketing, community, and investment teams for brand alignment.
Leverage digital and AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance attendee experience.

Project Management
Lead cross-functional growth initiatives, including market expansion, program launches, and cross-border projects.
Build project plans, timelines, and accountability frameworks from ideation to delivery.
Coordinate with global teams (investment, marketing, legal, compliance, finance, ops) for seamless execution.
Support ecosystem research, market mapping, startup sourcing, and investment activities.
Track status, surface blockers proactively, and drive resolution with a bias for action.
Support office operations and utilize AI productivity tools to enhance execution.

Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
Build and manage partnerships with universities, corporates, VCs, government bodies, accelerators, and incubators in Japan and APAC.
Cultivate relationships with LPs, prospective LPs, our company networks, and affinity groups to expand AV’s investor base.
Steward strategic LP relationships to drive ongoing engagement and mutual value.
Structure formal alliance agreements with leadership and legal counsel.
Identify co-marketing, co-innovation, and co-sponsorship opportunities.
Maintain a stakeholder map and relationship database for the APAC venture ecosystem.

●Who You Are
5+ years of experience in community development, project management, strategic partnerships, or partnership management ideally within financial services, venture capital, consulting, higher education, innovation, or a high-growth startup environment.
Proven ability to plan and execute complex, high-profile, multi-stakeholder events and programs from end to end.
Track record of building and managing strategic institutional and commercial relationships that deliver measurable outcomes.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and drive execution in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
Entrepreneurial, intellectually curious mindset with a high degree of self-direction, ownership, and continuous learning someone who sees what needs to be done and makes it happen.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both Japanese and English, with the ability to engage credibly with executives, investors, founders, university leaders, corporate partners and institutional stakeholders.
Demonstrated interest in venture capital, innovation, startups, and relationship-driven business development.
Genuine fluency with AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Notion AI) and a demonstrated ability to thoughtfully integrate AI into daily workflows for planning, communications, research, and stakeholder management. This is a baseline expectation at our company.
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.

Experience engaging with public institutions, government-affiliated organizations, universities, or research institutions in a professional capacity.
Experience planning and executing community engagement initiatives and events for institutional investors, large corporations, or senior executive audiences.
Knowledge of Japan’s venture capital, startup, and university innovation ecosystem, including key stakeholders, networks, and emerging trends.
