Equity Research Associates/Analysts are organised into seven broad industry groupings and cover the regions on a sector-by-sector basis. Their role is to carry out detailed research on each company (within their designated sector) from reviewing assets and cash flow to evaluating the management and assessing the environment in which the company is trading. We call this the “bottom-up” approach to stock picking.

The outcome of their research will allow the Associate/Analyst to make a buy or sell recommendation to the Portfolio Manager, who will ultimately make the Investment decision, based on a combination of the following; Associate/Analyst’s research, their own research, third party research and discussions with colleagues.

Purpose of the Role

Our Research Analyst works as part of our regional research team in Asia Pacific, assuming analytical responsibility for sector coverage and providing investment recommendations to our Portfolio Managers both locally and worldwide. Although the position will be based in Tokyo, the role will be required to work closely with analysts/associates in other locations.

Key Responsibilities

Take responsibility for the analysis of a list of stocks allocated by the Director of Research or add on by searching new stocks to buy; typically such a list will comprise 30 - 35 names
Ramp coverage on those names within a time period agreed with the Director of Research; typically within 12 months
Use all sources available to formulate a view on the stocks under your assigned coverage. This would include sources within the company as well as other industry sources such as competitors and customers, and external sources such as sell-side brokers and third-party research providers.
Maintain a current rating on each stock on the assigned coverage list. Ratings go from 1 (strong buy) to 5 (strong sell).
Provide ESG rating on rated coverage stocks
Publish regular reports on assigned stocks and continue to search new stocks to buy;
Communicate your views to PMs via written reports, voice mails, emails, and face to face meetings.
Host company meetings on companies on your list for PMs when appropriate.
Write a note after Company visits in timely manner.
Maintain a notional paper portfolio comprised of the stocks on your assigned coverage list.
Assist with mentoring colleagues and maintaining general corporate morale and direction as required by Director of Research.

●The Role
As a senior member of our Manager Research team in Japan, the Associate Director plays a leading role in our manager research operation in Japan, delivering high quality and timely research to investors and clients. In addition to conducting fund due diligence and writing research reports, the Associate Director is charged with promoting our mission and research capabilities through our global thought leadership program, along with active engagements with the external market on key investment and industry issues that are relevant to Japanese investors. The role is based in our Tokyo office.

●Responsibilities
・Take the lead in producing high quality and timely manager research reports; assist analysts in formulating and defending our opinions on investment strategies through report editing and in rating committees; contribute to the link up with global analyst teams.
Enhance our research profile in Japan through active engagements with the external market (wealth managers, media, regulators, and clients) in areas including (but not limited to) industry trends and development, policy and other investment issues that are relevant to Japanese investors.
Strengthen perceptions of our research capabilities in Japan through contributions to the international thought leadership program and production of local research content.
Support ongoing client deliverables of our investment advisory offerings in Japan. Help drive and develop scalable ways of delivering better services to ours client segments.
Actively promote our investment advisory capabilities when interacting with our target audience and prospects.
Handle ad-hoc client enquiries and undertake administrative and/or analytical work as required.

職務内容 以下業務内容より、個々人のご経験に応じて柔軟にアサインいたします。
（1）投資アイディアの策定・推進
1.ポートフォリオマネジメント業務
部署全体のポートフォリオの状態・アセットアロケーションを通貨・地域・アセットクラス・クレジットリスク的に俯瞰し、最適な投資ミックスを考慮の上、投資機会を探り、部門内に展開、議論を行い、合意形成を図る（（AVP）/VP）
2.リサーチ業務
個別案件についてのクレジット分析と関連するマクロ分析を行なう（AVP/VP）
●対人及びリサーチ等の様々なソースからの情報や、それまでの職務経験を統合し、クレジットサイクルの各段階で安定的に収益が得られるような投資アイディアについて、一定程度のシナリオや見方を持った上で、部門内に展開、議論を行い、合意形成を図る（（AVP）/VP）
●新規ビジネスについて、アイディアを創出し、初期的なフィージビリティースタディーを行い、部門内に展開、議論を行い、合意形成を図る（VP）
●上記の各種投資アイディア・新規ビジネス他について、合意形成の後、主体的に推進を行なう（VP）
（2）投資案件のソーシング
●証券会社等のリサーチの読解及びセミナー等に参加し、潜在的アセットクラス・案件の情報を入手する（AVP/VP）
●担当する証券会社等との関係性を良好に維持しながら、具体的な潜在的案件の情報を積極的に入手する（AVP/VP）
●入手した情報に付き、適宜部内に情報共有を行う（AVP/VP）
●入手した情報を元に当部の投資基準に合致した案件について、市場調査を含む案件調査の上部内に案内、上席を含めた合意形成の上、上席のサポート担当として推進する（AVP）若しくは、主体的に推進する（（AVP）/VP）
●当該案件について、要求収益水準に達しているか否かの分析を行なう（AVP/VP）
（3）案件の取り上げ基準他社内規則の理解・遵守
●様々な社内規則を原文に立ち返り読解し、担当案件を実行する上で直接的・間接的に要求される事項、業務を整理・理解の上、遵守する（AVP/VP）
●上記に加え、当該整理・理解を部門内で効果のある形で共有する（（AVP）/VP）
（4）取り上げ案件の社内推進
●新商品に該当する場合は、新商品としての社内の承認を得る為の戦略等を考慮し、部署内での合意形成を図る（（AVP）/VP）。　当該合意に基づく資料を、上席との相談・指示の上準備する（AVP/VP）
●当該新商品承認の為の資料を基に、上席が社内の承認を得る事をサポートする（AVP）
●上席の指示・相談の上、決裁書および関連する資料の作成を行う（AVP/VP）
《証券化・ストラクチャードファイナンス案件の場合》
●各種リスクを理解した上で、それらを緩和する仕組、キャピタルストラクチャー、キャッシュフローウォーターフォール、各種トリガーが十分であるかを分析する（AVP/VP）
●Moody’s Analytics社のキャッシュフローモデルを使用し、各種ストレスに応じた投資元本償還の蓋然性の分析を行う（AVP/VP）
《FI/コーポレート案件の場合》
●業界分析、財務分析、キャッシュフロー分析等の、当該案件の信用分析を行う（AVP/VP）
●作成した決裁書及び関連する資料を基にした、上席の審査部門との折衝につきサポートを行う（AVP）
●決裁に付随する各種プロセスについて、社内規則に基づく承認の為の資料を準備の上、主体的にその承認を得る（AVP/（VP））
●審査部門の承認が下りた案件について、実行及び資金決済の事務を行う（ASC/AVP/（VP））
（5）投資実行後の案件の期中管理業務
●証券会社等からの月次等の頻度のレポーティングについて、案件実行後にモニタリングのシートをエクセルにて作成する（AVP/VP）
●当該モニタリングシートに基づき、月次等の頻度でモニタリングを行い、部内・外に報告を行う（AVP/（VP））
●証券会社等からの時価情報について、ミドルオフィス部門がその検証を行う上でのサポートを行う（AVP/（VP））
●その他、審査部門他からの期中の案件に対する問い合わせの対応を行う（AVP/VP）
●決裁上で定められた各種トリガーへの抵触時には、その対応についての報告を上席が行う上での報告書の作成のサポートを行う（AVP/（VP））
（6）行内外の各種規則・規制対応
●業務を執行する上で遵守すべき社内規則やそれ以外の必要な規則・法令・規制資本等の関連規則について、内容を原文から自身で理解し、遵守する姿勢を保持する（AVP/VP）
●上記に基づく報告資料等の作成の為の計算等の作業を行なう（AVP/（VP））
●行内での見解が曖昧等の未解決の内容がある場合には、関係各部署と連携の元、当部の業務に沿う形での理解の一致を図るべく、推進する（AVP/VP）
